ADHD tools that actually work for me
I'm making this my first living page/document on the site, so welcome! By 'living page,' I mean this will be a constantly evolving post that I update over time as I find new tools and insights. I'll use this as a place to keep a log and dialogue of the tools and tips I've found useful as someone with ADHD. I wasn't diagnosed until adulthood and have had to do a lot of trial and error so I hope this helps others get a jump start on things that may actually be useful. In no way do I think these will work for everyone, but I've found many of them through the help of others talking about what works for them and amalgamating what works best for me. You do the same traveler.
Tools that actually help
Fast_Font
I'm sure if the algorithm knows or thinks you have ADHD you've been hit with ads about ADHD friendly fonts. Many of them are stupidly expensive and thankfully there's an awesome open-source alternative that works super well for me.Fast_Font is incredible for getting my brain into reading mode. For me at least, it's not about reading quickly as much as reading at a sustained and reasonable pace without getting sidetracked. This does the trick for me and maybe it will for you. I've heard others say that Open Dyslexic works really well for them, it's not my favorite, but in a pinch it does work for me just not as well.
Pomodoro Timers
Plain and simple. 25 minutes on, 5 minutes off works well for me, but change up the times as needed.
