Write Things Down

This one will be short and sweet, probably could have been a tweet.

A few years back I was diagnosed with ADHD. One thing that has risen above many of tips and tricks you see around the web for ADHD management has been the simplest. Just write things down. By hand.

There's the short version. Here's a few more thoughts.

I carry around a pocket notebook now as much as possible and try to write down anything that I need to remember or want to circle back to; whether that's thoughts or appointments and events. Gone are the days of trying to find the perfect app only to have my tasks and reminders lost to the ether. Now I will eventually take some of these notes and events and digitize them, especially for calendar events I still find keeping a digital calendar is way to convenient with a families worth of events to juggle. The act of writing them down first really does help them find a slot in my brain though. Plus all the Field Notes notebooks I've been gifted over the years are finally seeing some use.

Here's a link to a study about how Hand writing notes leads to better brain connectivity than typing.
